In 2021, TTS played a crucial role in a major upgrade at Le Fevre High School.
Process
The project involved constructing new learning facilities, refurbishing existing buildings, and demolishing outdated structures. Delays at any stage of the project would have affected the overall timeline, and the school expected the facilities to be operational by the start of the academic year, so delays were not an option.
The TTS team faced a tight 6-8 week installation period that required meticulous planning to minimise educational disruptions. Key challenges included compliance with stringent child safety regulations, including police checks, adherence to noise ordinances dictated by local councils, and safely managing high-risk construction activities in an active school setting. The school's continuous operation introduced the unique challenge of performing major constructions while managing the movement of students.
TTS approached these challenges with extensive preparation and strategic scheduling. The project team, comprising ten highly qualified staff, underwent all necessary background checks to ensure compliance with working in a school environment. Construction activities were carefully timed to coincide with periods of minimal student presence, primarily over weekends and after hours.
Noise levels were monitored and adjusted as needed to adhere to council restrictions, and work involving cranes and other high-risk procedures was carefully overseen to ensure all on-site safety. Additionally, worker conduct expectations were managed to maintain a professional and safe atmosphere.
The Result
Despite the project's complexities and stringent demands, TTS successfully completed the upgrade on schedule, ensuring that the new and refurbished facilities were ready for use at the start of the year. This timely completion was crucial to the overall project timeline and demonstrated TTS's ability to manage and execute construction projects under pressure without compromising on safety or delivery standards.
