Project

In October 2023, TTS was engaged to construct a 150-person camp at Oak Dam, located on Kokatha country near Roxby Downs, 65km southeast of Olympic Dam.

Oak 3

Process

This site is notable for its deep iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) mineralised system and represents one of the most significant copper discoveries in recent history.

The project faced substantial obstacles, including extreme heat, adverse weather conditions, and the complexities introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic, including government-mandated shutdowns. These factors necessitated a flexible and rapid response to ensure the project's completion in line with the urgent requirement to commence mining operations.

To manage these challenges, TTS deployed a robust team of 22 skilled professionals, including plumbers and carpenters, who worked diligently to meet the demanding project schedule.

TTS's logistical and project management capabilities were tested, particularly in orchestrating resources and personnel amidst pandemic-related restrictions. The team's ability to adapt to rapidly changing conditions and to continue work despite significant logistical hurdles was critical in keeping the project on track.

The Result

Despite the harsh environmental conditions and the disruptions caused by the pandemic response, the camp's construction was completed successfully by the end of February 2024.

This timely completion allowed mining operations to commence without further delay, underlining the effectiveness of TTS's project management and execution strategies. The camp now supports the majority of the site's operational staff and serves as a crucial base for ongoing exploration and mining activities.

The Oak Dam drilling camp project highlights TTS's capacity to deliver critical infrastructure under challenging conditions and stringent timelines. This project showcases TTS's expertise in construction and logistics and its ability to navigate and adapt to unforeseen challenges. Through resilience and strategic planning, TTS played a pivotal role in facilitating one of the most significant recent developments in the mining sector.
